A memory does not have to be based on real experiences. A memory is produced by the functioning of the brain. If you change the structure and then functioning of the brain enough you will have a change in the memory produced by the brain. A memory is part of the awarepath produced by a physapath that relates the (believed to exist) past experiences to the present consciousness.
