- Arguments for singularity
- Many of the arguments for itomultiplicity are arguments against singularity of the self. Most people think that what they are is this current conscious moment that they are experiencing. When they discuss a continuation of life and life after death, what they usually mean and want is a continuation of consciousness from the current conscious moment, not a continuation from a previous conscious moment or a potential future conscious moment. It seems reasonable to think that any other consciousness than what a person is currently experiencing is not them even if it was or will be a consciousness that they did experience or will experience.
