comparison of theories
m s n multiplicity singularity nullibilicity
discrete continuum
person soul sf
continuity continuousness
1() first person perspective
3() third person perspective
The name is an acronym made from the first letter of the major components
SFXMC sfxmc: structure functioning, ixperiencit, multiplicity, continuum sfxsd: structure functioning, ixperiencit, singularity, discrete sfxsc: structure functioning, ixperiencit, singularity, continuum sfxmd: structure functioning, ixperiencit, multiplicity, discrete sfxnd: structure functioning, ixperiencit, nullibilicity, discrete sfxnc: structure functioning, ixperiencit, nullibilicity, continuum
sfxsd,sfxsc, sfxsc and sfxnd types theories don’t work because structure and functioning is duplicatable which allows for multiplicity and forms an n - d continuum.
With nullibilicity theories there is no clear understanding of the ixperiencit concept. It is as if they have given up because the problem is too complex and thus they revert to a simpler theory. If you cannot figure it out give up and claim none existence of the problem. The nature and complexity of structure and functioning was not know when these types of theories were originally developed thousand of years ago.
When we talk about personal identity we are considering a singular discrete belief system.
dsmsd: dualistic soul, matter, singularity, discrete drmsd: dualistic reincarnation, matter, singularity, discrete dcmsd: dualistic consciousness, matter, singularity, discrete dsmnc: dualistic soul, matter, nullibilicity, continuum
The problems with dsmsd drmsd theories are that they are not scientific, are not predictive, can not be checked to see if the predictions they make are correct. They are literary theories. They are interesting stories to tell around a camp fire invented by creative smart people but with very limited knowledge.
dsmnc: the concept of a soul and nullibilicity contradict each other because there is not supposed to be a unique soul in a nullibilistic theory. But there is supposed to exist in some theories to be a soul like thing that combines with the ultimate consciousness in the end.
Nullibilistic theories are theories that believe that instead of there being a singular linear self ther is real no self there are only non unique parts.
cfmsd: corporal, finite, matter, singularity, discrete
closest continuer materially
bfmsd: body, finite, matter, singularity, discrete
closest continuer materially
This is a folk psychology default belief we will show the problems with it
cfcsd: corporal, finite, consciousness, singularity, discrete closest continuer consciousnessly bfcsd: body, finite, consciousness, singularity, discrete closest continuer consciously
This is a more sophisticated philosophy that includes consciousness along with the body to determine personal existence.
Because there are so many contradictory problems with singular, linear, body and consciousness theories singularity is rejected and nullibilicity is the default position.
What is the concept or philosophical position of nullibilicity? It is a rejection of singularity and linearity for personal identity and existence. It is a theory based on much more thought and rational experiments than bfmsd and bfcsd theories but it does not go far enough because of some major perceptual and conceptual assumptions about consciousness and personness.
cfcnd: corporal, finite, consciousness, nullibilicity, discrete
no necessary closest continuer consciously or materially
bfcnd: body, finite, consciousness, nullibilicity, discrete
no necessary closest continuer consciously or materially
When you feel forced to accept singular systems but find too many problems to accept them people revert to the concept of nullibilicity.
cfcnd: corporal, finite, consciousness, nullibilicity, continuum no necessary closest continuer consciousnessly or materially bfcnd: body, finite, consciousness, nullibilicity, continuum no necessary closest continuer consciousnessly or materially
The problem with nullibilicity is that it has a tendency to make you less than a singular person where as multiplicity makes you much more.
The consequences and goals of the different theories vary.
The concept of undecideablitiy is ther are situation where we can not determine if it is the same person or not There are two aspects first there not being enough knowledge there is a solution but we do not have enough knowedge to decide. On the other hand there is the situation where no matter how much knowledge we have there will never be a corect solution to the problem because it does not exist.
We can construct questions that have no correct answer. Is 1 and one half closer to 1 or 2 we use fuzzy logic when there is not discreteness is 1 ever equal to .11111..... In base 2 subtract the two and you get 000... 2 - 1.2222.... = 0 In base three. 1 equals .222... In base three
Types of theories of personal identity soul, body, consciousness, no self, acceptance of no resolution between singularity and experimentation
The experimental problems go away with multiplicity The rejection of self goes away when when self is a multiple rather than singular concept consciousness does not have to be continuous or have continuity Multiplicity is not tied to a specific body or specific matter. Soul does not exist and we do nt need it for life after death nor do we need the concept of god for life after death
The problem is that the concept of personel identity is a singular concept. Think out side of the box of singularity to that of multiplicity. But then they will say you no longer have a theory of personel identity. This is correct. You have a theory of the ixperiencit/ uxperiencit based on structure and functioning rather than matter consciousness or soul.
What about ixperiencit theories based on the soul, consciousness, or matter? Ixperiencit theory is baed on the ixperiencit /uxperiencit aspect of consciousness not the identity, continuity, or continuousness of consciousness. You have no way of determining the ixperiencit concept with matter alone because there is no matter tagging. There is no way of determing ixperiencit soul relationship because there is no scientific way of determing the properties of souls either they do not exist or they are unknowable.
