It seems that there have been all sorts of different problems that humans have encountered. Life has been difficult for humans. Humans are conscious beings. If humans were not conscious they would not suffer no matter what happens to their bodies or to the universe. Consciousness is such that we try to avoid pain and suffering and pursue pleasure. This gives conscious beings motivation to do things. But is there a purpose besides survival for this? The more that we learn about the world that we live in the more complex the universe becomes. We solve one problem and another replaces it. This can be looked at both positively or negatively. If we solve all of our problems then we stagnate. There will be no need to do or learn anything. Why do anything when our lives are perfect enough? Conscious lives do not have to be perfect to slow or stop progress. But what is progress? There are many different types of progress. For instance: increased knowledge, increased happiness for the individual, increased happiness for all people, and or sustainability of what ever type of progress that has been achieved.
Is it possible that the problems that we face are directing us? They do not have to direct us purposefully like there is a god behind its development directing it. It just might be the way that the universe is or the way that consciousness is. Consciousness may naturally progress this direction. If a conscious being sees some better way of doing something it can strive for that better way. Of course, it might only seem better but the conscious being can eventual understand this and make changes again.
When animals became conscious enough they realized that there was more to reality that the present conscious moment. Humans can think or imagine way into the future and remember the past. Humans, realizing that there is a past that can be consciously learned from and a future that can be consciously planned for, have developed many ways to avoid pain and pursue pleasure while surviving in an ever changing environment.
At some point humans and or pre-humans realized that they eventually die. Probably by seeing that other around them die. Some at least wondered what ever might be or exist beyond death. Over time it is likely that creative people developed stories that eventually developed into beliefs and then religions dealing with death and life after death. Some human societies /cultures spend a great amount of resources trying to create an extension to life. None have succeeded because they have had very limited knowledge about what it takes for an extension of life. Religions have succeeded down through the ages because of their promise of life after death and immortality. Since there is no real evidence of this promised life after death and immortality religious people are told that they must have faith. Religions are a dead end when it comes to producing life after death and immortality. There has been proposed nothing better so religions hopefully have provided some measure of solace. The best thing that we have come up with to make our lives better is science and its application. But what science has predicted so far is that there is no life after death. Immortality (scientifically) is based on keeping the body alive forever.
To solve our problems of survival and suffering avoidance we are directed toward finding solutions. The ideas proposed by Awaretheory are apparently the solution to life after death and immortality. These ideas direct us toward the pursuit of ever greater knowledge and the conscious capacity to understand and use this knowledge. We can control our conscious destiny of existence or non existence after death. What it takes, like the solution of all the other problems that we have solved, is the pursuit of knowledge and the ability to understand and use that knowledge. For life after death and immortality to exist for conscious beings, we have to not only persue knowledge but also we have to increase our ability to understand and use this knowledge. This means that we have to use science to make ourselves more conscious. Not every conscious being has to be more conscious than we are now, but the more abilities that conscious beings have the more problem solving, progress, and control we can have over the environment that determines our survival and what we experience.
If we look at the greater picture of what is happening it seems like we are being directed (by nature) to produce more conscious beings and more enhanced conscious beings. Eventually to the point that we can actually decide with enhanced knowledge (and wisdom) what consciousnesses should and are produced. The ixperiencitness concept ties consciousnesses together through time, space, and conscious variation. We do not know to what degree this occurs, but without this natural interconnection of conscious beings there is much less reason to believe that we are in fact directly consciously connected to the future existence of conscious beings (humans and enhanced humans) and thus care about this (all of our) conscious futures.
Maybe the universe or multiuniverse wants to be conscious of itself. Rather than just the evolution of species maybe also there is the evolution of consciousness and ixperiencitness. Maybe the evolution of species is just the first step in the evolution of conscious existence through our the universe. Rather than just species survival maybe there is consciousness and ixperiencitness wanting to survive. Do you really care that you survive only as a human body or do you care to survive as conscious beings produced in myriads of different ways experiencing all that there is to experience?
