How I know there is no afterlife

People die. You say this over and over again. Not every one is scared to die. Certainly not enough in some people not to kill themselves. We can do something about dying. As you say life can be extended by the help of medicine and being careful. Is it or is not not child abuse to tell children things that are not true that makes their lives worse. For instance, telling them that by doing a few bad things they are going to hell where they will be in unbearable pain forever? Or If they just believe a lie when the evidence is overwhelmingly against the truth of it, they will have an endless life with joy? It not your fault for not knowing the truth of what you are preaching, but it is your fault if you continue to believe something that causes suffering to others when the evidence is overwhelming against it. It is true that people die. There is no proof of souls, gods, spirit worlds, heavens, hells, after death experiences, or other supernatural entities, even though many people believe in these types of ideas. It thus would seem that there would be no way for there to be life after death. However, people make up all sorts of fantasies to entertain themselves or to make life better is some way. Superimmortality is not a fantasy.

You wisely say that you do not know how long your brain can be dying or dead and still be restored. You do not know what would be needed for that brain to be restored. But we actually do know. It is just we do not have the technology to achieve it. There is not just one way or end result that restores your life again after death There are many different situations where you will experience being conscious again after death for any length of time. You say that your brain makes you.

The after life world, according to superimmortality, is this world. If you consciously exist again, you will be a physical body of matter in this world that is producing a structure and functioning of matter that produces a consciousness that you experience. You are not one body but a specific large grouping of structures and functionings of matter that when ever they exit (produced any body) will create a conscious that you experience. For example if the structure and functioning that produced your consciousness on your tenth birthday was recreated in either your present body or in a different body in the past, present, or future, any where in the universe you will again experience exactly what you did on your tenth birthday.

Lets develop an analogy of the two competing theories yours (and many other's theory let call it mortalism) and superimmortality using the TV analogy. According to mortalism you say what a person is his body --- brain. When that brain is destroyed beyond repair you are permanently dead. Using the TV analogy this is like saying you are a TV set and once that TV is no longer working that is the permanent end of the TV set, thus the permeant death of your body is the permanent death of you. Superimmortality predicts that what you are is not a body but a body that produces a consciousness that you experience. Which is analogous to saying that you are the TV show not the TV set. Many different TV sets can produce the same TV show by functioning the same way. Which two theories fit reality better?

One TV set functioning differently can produce a tremendous amount of different TV shows. One human body can have a brain that can function is an enumerable amount of different ways.

You are your brain. You are consciousness. The brain and consciousness are not identical. The same brain can exist and not produce any consciousness. The same brain can produce any consciousness by having a different structure and functioning without changing the matter it is made of the space or time that it exists in. There is nothing physical that can be used to distinguish between the original body and a cidentireplica of the original. The original is supposed to be a continuous body over time. This continuousness of body is supposed to be the physical quality that makes you you and the cidentireplica of you not you, But what does this really mean? An original and a cidentireplica can not be told apart other than having two different bodies There is no distinct original-ness that is in the original that is not in the cidentireplica as in the two have different souls, spirits, etc.
