The most of the nerves in the brain actually serve more than one purpose. This is a form of multisharing. If the fitoprocess can produce consciousness when divided and not communicating then multisharing can spread over large areas of unconnected neurons or NRDs.
You can also define the purpose of the neuron to be singular but then it would be a very complexly defined purpose.
