The null awarepath is like saying that something is not producing any consciousness. the null mentapath is like saying that something is not even part of something that is producing an awarepath. A neuron does not produce an awarepath by itself, but can be part of producing an awarepath in a brain, for instance. A neuron produces a null awarepath but does not necessarily produce a null mentapath.
