Directed conscious evolution is not the directed evolution of a body but the evolution of consciousness.

Some of the major goals of directed conscious evolution are or might be enhancement, understanding, perpetuation, and diversity. It appears that consciousness has been enhanced through the process of genetic evolution so that some life forms are more conscious than other are. Consequently, It seems very likely that conscious beings can be made more conscious and conscious in more ways. Consciousnesses has the ability to have forms that seem to understand things better. There also seems to be a conscious desire to understand thing better. There are many different types of understanding some actually improve the ability to predict future events. But this is not the only type of understanding. There is feel good understanding that can just make you feel good when diversity comes to together in some fashion. It might not have any real use at the present time for the individual or society but it seems to fulfill a need for conscious coherence of a conscious being or even a society of conscious beings. Religious or artistic understanding might be an example. Scientific understanding might be such an example when the understanding itself has no needed purpose.

Perpetuation is an aspect of evolution that is very important. In genetic evolution perpetuation is the perpetuation of he body consciousness is inconsequential except when it helps in the survival of the life form. Many animals that do information processing about its environment and this usually aids in their survival. But his does not means that they are what we call conscious. Awaretheory predicts that you need matter and energy to produce consciousness. So the perpetuation of consciousness means a perpetuation of matter in forms that can not only produce consciousness but can continue to produce consciousness indefinitely into the future. Directed genetic evolution is on way to do this. But it is not the only way. Directed electronic evolution and Directed photonic evolution are two other ways. There are likely other ways to get matter to produce consciousness. Possibly by directed fitoprocess evolution which are forms of topological transformations of matter.

Why should we care if conscious beings are produced in the future? Most people believe that either god will take care of it, or control it (our futures), and there is nothing we can or should do to change it. Or on the other hand people believe that when they die that is the end of their conscious existence and thus the end of what really matters ultimately to them. Awaretheory changes all of that with strong scientific arguments for a totally different perspective. Which is, you can experience conscious existence after death and you can have control over what you experence in the future. If god or gods exist they may very well want us to control our conscious futures. If there are no gods then we should take responsibility for our future the best ways that we can and that is clearly through the advancement of science and the positive use of technology based on science.
