VCR/DVD analogies

The purpose of these analogies is, hopefully, to make some of the principles and concepts of awaretheory more understandable. The VCR or DVD act like sources of input for a computer or TV like device. They supply an analogous input source as the sensepath is for a physapath. The VCR (videocassette recorder) and DVD (digital video disc) are devices for storing and retrieving information is a linear sequential form in the same sense that we experience consciousness in a sequential linear form. they supply the receptionpath for TVs or other like devices so that showpaths can be produced.

These types of analogies are not perfect for understanding superimmortality but they are helpful. Nor may they apply to each principle or concept in awaretheory.

Besides TV analogies and computer analogies, we can also use the analogies with motion picture projectors, VHS tapes and VCR tape players, DVD and DVR players, to help toward the understanding of awaretheory and superimmortality concepts. This is because they create a linear progression of experiences through time just like consciousness is a progression of conscious experiences through time.

Televisions acts as an analogy for the viewable behavior of conscious beings. When we look inside a television set we do not see the picture or show that is being produced by the television inside the functioning of the electronic components. In the same way when we look at the brain that is producing consciousness we do not see the consciousness that is being produced by the brain. We have rules and laws that lets us predict how the electronic components will perform when combined in certain ways. Awaretheory gives general rules and laws that also allows us to predict what consciousness and ixperiencitness a brain will produce given its structure and functioning.

The VCR/DVD/DVR/TV/computer analogies is not meant as a put down to human consciousness in the sense that our consciousnesses are just, only, or simply a bunch of VCR, DVD, DVR, TV or computer like concepts.
