We can imagine the structure and functioning of matter in a consciousness producing system changing in many ways. For instance a neuron could be slightly shorter than it was. Or it could be slightly wider a a single spot along it length. It could have wider or thiner synapses. There are many other differences in the structure and functioning of the brain that could be mentioned. When we deal with change and measurement we can imagine the change to be in real numbers that can be considered a continuum of change where there is always a closer number than the one mentioned.
